Ovarian Cancer Symptoms - Paula's Story

Description

Paula explained what her ovarian cancer symptoms were and if they care common amongst women.

Transcript
I am Paula. I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer four years ago. I had surgery and chemotherapy. A year after I was diagnosed, my daughter was diagnosed with ovarian cancer stage 3C, as I have. We have found out that we have the BRCA1 genetic mutation, which has caused this cancer. Because I had IBS, Irritable Bowel Syndrome. I thought maybe that was what was going on, but then I started getting really severe pain, and I had gone to a gastroenterologist who did some testing and said I was fine. A few months later, I was still having this pain. I thought maybe it was something rheumatoid. I went to a rheumatologist who listened to my whole story and ordered another CAT scan, which then showed the ovarian cancer was in my abdominal cavity, in my pelvic cavity, and from there I ended up at an oncologist/ gynecologist and had surgery.
