I am a representational artist in New York City and I am not the first artist to do portraits and I know I would not be the last but I do like to do them. I love to paint people’s faces. The face is a portal to the soul and it tells so much about a person: the emotions, the feelings and the life behind the eyes. It is all exciting to me. These are different portraits in different media. This is an oil sketch. This is a finished oil painting and it is of the actor Steve Abrams and it is a very intense portrait. I have used props and a colored background to really give it a full story. Over here you will see a pencil drawing and this is a drawing of the actor John Glover when he was performing in New York and he agreed to sit for me which was really exciting. These three portraits are oil heads of three siblings. The two brothers are turning in towards their adored sister. This is a pastel portrait also of a child. I used a very fine hard pastel so that I could really get the details of his mysterious smile. In this painting I have also painted a child’s face, but I have put her next to a balloon and so you get her face not only looking out, but also reflected in the surface of the balloon which gives it a nice playful look.
