Rebecca Taylor Interview - Fashion Week NY Fall 2010

Julia Dinardo talks to Rebecca Taylor during Fall 2010 Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in New York.

Julia: Hi, this is Julia from Fashion Post Daily for Style Coalition. I’m here with the lovely Rebecca Taylor just coming out of her exciting fall in her 2010 show. I’m wearing a Rebecca Taylor, so honored. Rebecca: Looks so cute to you. Julia: I know, doesn’t it? Rebecca: Yes, it does. Julia: But I do just say your collection is very relevant to now. I loved all the Jaguar, Leopard frames, Jacquard—tell me a little about it. I mean I feel like it was opulent, but like downtown cool. What was your inspiration? Rebecca: Well, but you know I always look towards like people like Charla Gainsbourg and people who very have like a downtown cool so to vive. But I always want it to feel opulent, but not like—so you should feel like you can like hang downtown and feel cool enough. Julia: Speaking of good sizzle, the tights, amazing. I love it. Tell me a bit about it? Oh, man! Rebecca: The most beautiful thing ever. Julia: So, when did you start the upholstery line? Rebecca: We’ve been doing upholstery for sometime actually, but we’re going to be bringing it to America for this Fall 2010. Julia: I can't wait. Rebecca: Yes, I know. Julia: So, how do you balance like the footwear, the accessories, all of it? Rebecca: It's like spinning plates, it really is. It's like when those magician tricks that you have all the sticks and then the plates and you go along, you keep them all spinning and then there's a blizzard. Julia: Oh, my God. Rebecca: And then the plates start falling off the sticks. And you have to like figure how to catch all that together again but we managed. Julia: Yes, you did it. And what’s your kind of like cool down after fashion week and the frenzy and the excitement and the euphoria, do you go away? What’s your ritual? Rebecca: Maybe in a couple of weeks where we are really busy. We got market and everything like my husband and I going to go to Texas and take us. Julia: That sounds perfect, can I come? Rebecca: But tonight, it's going to be hard to read the kids a children story. Julia: Well, enjoy. This is your day. It's a great show. Rebecca: Thank you. Thank you very much.
