Save Money on Organic Baby Products

With a new baby at home, Amy and Zack need a little advice on how to save on organic products.

Amy: My husband and I got married just under two years ago. And we just had a little baby boy Max, there months ago. Life has changed dramatically. It's anything from no safe to just crazy schedules, manager work and a household. You know I'm really conscious about keeping the house clean. I am constantly wiping the counters, washing hands and wiping the floors. It's important to me and it's important to use natural products around him. The things you don’t realize are the cost of diapers, the cost of formula, bottles and it all adds up. No it's not the smartest thing to shop at the drugstore for everything but with my crazy schedule, the easiest thing for me to do is just to get everything there. It's just a one-stop shop. But we were spending probably about $250.00 a week. I mean our grocery bills are out of control. I just want to coupon mom show me how I cut costs and still shop at my favorite drugstore. Hi! Amy: I’d like to cut it down by more than half. I mean absolutely. Coupon Mom: Well, I'm going to teach you the coupon mom system. Okay, that’s fast and easy. You're going to vase a ton of money. Here is how strategic shoppers do it. We find items on sale that also have coupons available and I love this one because it's a product you like. And the coupon says “buy one foundation and get a free blush”. That would be $23.00 of sale. And then I'm going to get the $10.00 extra bucks, extra bucks work just like cash. Amy: Basically like a $10.00 gift certificate? Coupon Mom: Exactly. Amy: To this store? Coupon Mom: Exactly. Amy: I could use it for anything? Coupon Mom: Right. So now I'm getting $23.00 of stuff for $3.00. This week’s deal is a pasta sauce three for $5.00. Peanut butter is three for $5.00. But then on top of that, they have an extra bucks reward to get $10.00 worth of these combined. You get $3.00 back in extra bucks. Here’s work, it’s better. I have coupons for those items. So instead of paying $3.29 for an item, you're going to end up paying about ¢90 for that item. Come on. Amy: Oh my God. Coupon Mom: There you go. Do I have it yet? Amy: Yeah, you had me at ¢90. Wow! Coupon Mom: I think Amy’s downfall issue really wasn’t paying attention to prices. She wasn’t really aware of what prices were and how to buy items at the lowest price. Sometimes everything just works. I love it. Amy: Well this is great because I use this all the time. We have it stacked up in our cabinet. As a new mom, it's important for me to use natural cleaning products. I was afraid coupon mom is going to make me give that up. Coupon Mom: You get everything you need even your natural cleaners. Amy: That was great because we get to buy things that I actually need and use for me and my family. Coupon Mom: When you a certain brand or product, you can go right to their website and ask if they an send you coupons. Amy: Really? You can ask them to send me a coupon? Coupon Mom: Yes and then use those coupons for absolutely free items. But here is an item. If you put all the tricks together you're actually going to make money on this. It's going to be free and you're going to make— Amy: I'm making money back? Coupon Mom: Yeah, it's usually $10.00. It's on sale for $6.00 but turns out they had store coupons the CBS website for this item. And this is a manufacturer’s coupon that I got from the paper. If this item cost $6.00 and I have $2.00, $3.00 coupons, how much am I getting off? Amy: It's free. Coupon Mom: It's free. Amy: My gosh, I was shocked coupon mom was actually able to show to me how to get stuff for free. It was like legal shoplifting. Coupon Mom: But guess what, they’re still going to give me $4.00 an extra bucks. Amy: So I have $4.00 just— Coupon Mom: We call that $4.00 profit. Amy: Wow. Coupon Mom: An easy way to save when you go shopping is to look for printable coupons before you buy anything. You can find printable coupons for clothes, household goods, hardware, just about everything you need. Just go to a search engine and then with their name of the store and the term printable coupon and you'll be amazed of what you can buy. Okay so, this is the fun part. Amy: I know coupon mom is going to get my $250.00 grocery bill down but I don’t think she’s going to be able to cut my bill by half. Coupon Mom: Okay, so today we look for sale items. We used the store I had used coupons with buy one get one free deals and then finally be automatic the worst program really like which is the extra bucks. So, our big total before savings is $112.00. Let’s see what the extra care card brings down to $73.00. We saved $34.00 just by swiping the card. Okay, let’s go with the coupons. Amy: Wow, it kept going down and down. Coupon Mom: I like this direction. Amy: I like watching it. It's going down. I was blown away at how much she was able to save me. Coupon Mom: So now we’re down to $41.00 and ¢39. Amy: Wow, more than half. Coupon Mom: Are you impressed? Amy: This is unbelievable. Coupon Mom: How many extra bucks we have? Remember, you're using these just like cash on your next visit. $23.00 and extra bucks, subtract that from $41.00, we’re talking about $18.00 after everything. Amy: Oh my God. Really? Coupon Mom: 84% savings. Amy: I've never used coupons before honestly. I just never thought they’d make a big impact. I'm obviously in shock. I can't believe I paid $18.00 for five bags of items here. I've literally been on the store a million times and I've never thought about all the sales and the deals that coupon mom pointed out.
