Saw VI Review

Is the sixth time the charm, or does this series get the axe? IGN presents Saw VI.

Saw VI Review Chris: Hi guys Chris and Eric here with your review of Saw IV, the latest chapter in Jigsaw’s very long franchise. Tackling the rather sort of modern day topical issue here with health care reform, this movie finds the executive of the health care company. Thrust in to the middle of the trap where he will literally need to decide who lives and who dies. Eric: It is a little strange at first to realize that is Saw film is dealing with topical events, political issues, something as big as the health care debate. This movie is not going to be one that is going to change your mind from the topic or have a big observation at the end. At the same time I did think it was a kind of fun little thing to throw in there, it is six movies in, so you need something fresh to include in the mix at this point. Chris: And one of the things I really liked about this movie is that traps definitely served the theme of the movie. They are not just a random collection of cool statically pleasing you know, torture devices. These traps really take our main character whose job has been sort of historically to determine what the most profitable outcome is for his company. Who lives, who dies and actually puts a face to that, he has got to make some real gory, visceral decisions about whether some very culpable and some very innocent people make it out. Eric: Some of the people that are involved in this trap seem like they are not – to the criteria you would think the Jigsaw when need to be there but we will put that aside. Because overall the traps are very inventive, very cool and I thought this movie overall was much more entertaining that Saw V. Chris: Absolutely it does however press the continuity of the series a little bit. There are so many sort of flashbacks and there is a lot like imaginings like who characters are thinking about other characters. The characters coming back from other movies, it gets a little confusing at times but the hardcore Saw fans will find out to appreciate here. Eric: I think the fans love that entirely connected the series but at this point six movies in and starting to feel like some strange Macomb T.V show most. That they can say previously on Saw at the beginning – it is a lot of fun you know and there is a lot of interesting cool callbacks. At the same time there are so many of so many characters come back sometimes that maybe they need to and it gets a little ridiculous at times. Chris: Absolutely, well I give this review a score of 3/5, I think that is a perfectly favorable score too much better than Saw V. Definitely up there was some of the other films in the franchise, it is starting so staged a little bit though, six movies in. We know that there is one, maybe two more to go, it hints on a power struggle for Jigsaw’s legacy which could be very interesting. But if it is going to stay, sort of fresh new moving forward, I think it needs to break the mold and it needs a little bit of a shot in the arm.
