The terminals themselves maybe cell phones or netbook computers would need incinerate peripherals such as a displaying keyboard, but the heart of the device would be on the sim card. The card communicates through a USB2.0 interface and appears to perform well during a demonstration of these weeks Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. SK Telecom said it’s only a prototype at present and there are no plans to bring it to market, but its development shows the level of miniaturization and amount of hardware that could be crammed inside a cell phone sim card. The carrier is also demonstrating a range of smart sims these are sim cards that are customized to an issue of content including applications or multi media. SK Telecom plans to begin issue in these cards in April. The company’s also experimenting with the sim card with built in wireless electronic money function.
