On today’s bookmark, we’re going to look at a website called Socialcast. So many businesses tell me the number one problem that they have is communication. You know with the business growing so quickly, it’s hard to keep everybody informed of what everybody else is doing. Large corporations have big internets where people can share information and keep messages updated consistently but in a lot of times in small and medium business, they don’t quite have that. Well today’s bookmark, we’re going to look at Socialcast as I said, it’s an interesting website it’s taken the concept of social media sort of like Facebook and they apply it to sort of a business internet type application. The idea is, is that everybody gets a log on page. I’ll just show you an example here where you essentially log in and right away you say what’s my status for the day and you can put that information in there. Now, everybody in their organization can see what your status is pretty similar to using Facebook except for the idea is, is that only the people within the company will actually share that information. You can start discussion threads on topics that you feel important, you can look at different departments like the accounting or the finance you know even the sales and marketing departments. You can suggest ideas or simply just tell people what you’re doing. It’s a great way to communicate. I think one of the areas where I can definitely expand its offering especially if it wants to become a kind of internet type solution is if it offered better solutions in terms of being able to book things like vacation. You know vacation is a sophisticated type requirement because you have to adjust people’s time not the views then you have to also make changes to the way you record your payroll. So, this doesn’t go that far in terms of being able to integrate those types of services however, it’s a great way to keep everybody in the company knowledgeable about other people are doing.
