Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2 - Review
Hi, may the Sony Erickson XPERIA X2, the first Windows phone of the manufacturer meaning, its operating system is Windows Mobile 6.5.
The successor to the first XPERIA is a hand device as well and delivers updated and personalized interface larger display, 8-megapixel camera and all features characteristic of all talk draw of cell phones like Wi-Fi, 3G, accelerometer, etcetera.
The physical design of the XPERIA X2 features quite a few changes. Its display has gained 0.2-inches and low measures currently 3.2-inches, but retains the native resolution and color support of the X1, 480 x 800 pixels and 65K colors respectively.
The light sensitivity and proximity censors are above the screen along with the individual cool camera, all navigational keys are all flat and the D-pad has been converted to an optical pad.
Do you still get a notch in opening the keyboard and that’s when you will notice the keyboard is equipped with more buttons and they are pocket tightly with less space in between. There are full navigational buttons located just below Enter. There are new things to see on both sides of the device.
The miniUSB port has been replaced with Micro USB port you’ve go to slider that looks the black paneling place cool LED indicators on both the top and the bottom sides of the handset that notify you of missed events and the phone status.
The back side has curved the ends and the panel is held its resists. We wondered why this was at first and if there’s more two of them just pass the design. We found the answer once we open the keyboard and get down to typing. Thanks to this the X2 feels extremely comfortable and well suited for text entry.
The Sony Erickson XPERIA X2 is the second handset of the manufacturer that runs Microsoft operating system and similarly to the XPERIA X1 you will confront the Sony Erickson laid panel interface, but we are happy to see the personalization pack from the eight to the standard interface much deeper.
There is a menu that features different panels and personalized sub-menus dedicated to multi-media, calendar, messaging and call register. The title of the track you’re listening to gets displayed at the bottom of the screen and pressing the top info, it brings the music controls on the display.
We came across several really interesting panels while browsing the ones that came preloaded on the XPERIA X2. Tidal wave is made by Sony Ericsson and is a file of 3D cubes and rectangles. Some of them are shortcuts to functions and applications. Others just adds colors to the interface.
The pixel city panel is visualize as a city and it’s different buildings are shortcuts to phone functions, but they cannot be personalized. The most useful panel of the phone was SPV mobile show that delivers the full functionality of SPV mobile show 3.0.
The home screen is quite similar to the one found on Android OS. When the shell is in lifestyle mode you have a single wallpapers filing over three pages that host widgets and applications shortcuts.
There is a professional mode that takes just two screen presses to run alternatively it can slide your finger up or downwards. It has only one home screen and looks better suited for business users because it displays information relating to business.
Of course, the panel that visualizes standard Windows Mobile 6.5 interface is also available MS today. At the end of the panels do what the name suggests and you have Facebook, CNN, Google and YouTube functionality.
There are new things in the phone book as well. Its standard Windows Mobile 6.5 interface has been changed completely and we must say that the personalized version looks much better.
You’re contacts list supports kinetic Flo link. You’ve got a handy search pane of itself and lets abandon the right, so searching is quite fast indeed. It’s a cool thing there are icons that call up your favorite contacts and co-history on screen. With its eight megapixel camera quick with Photo flash, the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2 is the only Windows phone at the moment that future city sensor.
The came interface has been renovated alongside of the X1 and icons are larger. You’ve got quite a few options but the most noticeable is certainly the touch focus. Please, see test pictures in our full text preview of the X2.
The music player has well itself and entirely new simplified interface. It’s both stylish overall look and we do like it. On the flip side, it offers content filtering and basic music control options only meaning, without any extra features like equalizers or sound effects.
The video play interface has also been improved and looks simplified as compare to the XPERIA X1. We wonder if the XPERIA X2 will manage to gain the upper hand in the upcoming battle against the other top end Windows handsets.
It seems the phone does have sporting chance, but this is something that will find out when we had the chance to test the final retail unit until then please visit PhoneArena.com where you can find extensive information about what’s going on in the boundless world of today’s cell phone market and technologies.
