Know what this is? You will find it in your local grocery store. It's Kale, and it's absolutely delicious as a side dish. We’re going to make some spicy Kale. What you don’t need to do is when you get at home, give it a good rinse this curly leaves, just run them to the water and I'm going to remove not all of the stems because I like to have that added crunch, just a couple of inches off the bottom. Okay. And then I'm going to chop the stems a little bit smaller than I have on the leaves. I'm going to a nice big coarse chop through the kale leaves. This is delicious in soups. I love it in beans soups as well or in pastas but it's absolutely delicious on its own. Just give it that nice a little, it's kind of got have slight bitter flavor to it. So, I'm going to get my non stick skillet ready here with a little bit of extra virgin olive oil, just a couple of tablespoons will do. And then I'm going to add the spice level the zip if you will. I'm going to add some garlic right in there minced up. And if you don’t want too much garlic flavor, you can just sliver it or chop it a little bit coarser but I really like the flavor of the garlic. And then to give at the heat, I’m going to use some hot pepper flakes. So again here, this is where you can add a little bit or a lot depending on how spicy you want but anywhere from half a teaspoon to a teaspoon depending on your spice level. And we just want to heat this up a little bit. And what that will do is that will infuse the oil with the flavor of the garlic and the red peppers. And then all we want to do is take our kale and add it right in there so that everything comes together and starts to cook. And we will start to hear nice little bit of sizzle as well once everything heats up together. So, you can see the color change of the kale, you got a nice brighter green. And I'm just going to taste a little bit here. What you want is a nice tender crisp texture, a little bit chewy, that’s the way I like it. If you want you can cook it a little bit more to get it a little bit tender and I'm just going to serve it up just like this. And this is great with any type of main coarse meal or if you happen to have some leftover pasta, you can toss it together with that. And you have a very nice quick and easy dinner. So, pick up a bunch of fresh kale and try this spicy kale recipe at home for you and your family.
