Chet Coppock: The dynamic of his personality is unmatched. Over the past 20 years, Wayne Allen Root the legitimate king of Vegas has been unwinnable. Wayne Allyn Root is kind of the niche that is virtually unmatched. Something I want to talk to you for about a long, long time. Wayne: By the way Trump, Gates and Buffet don’t have a star on the Vegas trip. I just want you to know that. Just tonight, I mention that. Chet Coppock: I want it. Wayne: And I do. Chet Coppock: I do want to mention this. You know, how many gamblers do you know? Legitimates points per player who think they are really great gamblers who consistently win but high-octane, glamorous offensive teams they think they can't possibly lose and they go to get their head handed to him. Wayne: Well you know, for 20 years now I’ve been professional sports handicapper through all those national handicapping titles and all my winners, which are usually are underdogs by the way will get to that in a minute. But underdogs are usually defensive teams and the glamorous high profile teams on national TV are the teams with the quarterback that everybody loves and falls in love with. With the running back that OJ Simpson, Dickerson you name it, the guys who run for thousands of yards. Those are the glamour teams. It's all about offence. The reality is there is only one thing I could think of one trend, one system that historically covers against the points spread again and again and again for 20 years lots of things come and go. But one is work for 20 years nonstop and that is betting on defense. If you want to beat the point spread, I mean out right a majority of the time you got to bet on the defensive teams that are under the radar. When they are under the radar that means their values bets. You know Benjamin Graham was the value investor of Wall Street. His advice is timeless. In all the years a hundred years later, he’s still the king of Wall Street and when Fortune Magazine did a profile on me couple of years ago, they called me the Benjamin Graham of sports gambling because I am a value investor when it comes to gambling. And when you look at it over time, teams that have high-octane offense may win a few games here or there but they don’t win Superbowl. They don’t win playoff games and they don’t be great defensive teams. A great defense will beat a great offense most every single time, and by the way I go on record now. My Superbowl prediction the Chicago Bears against the Denver Broncos, both those teams have magnificent defenses, adequate quarterbacks and very good running games and that’s what wins Super Bowl. And that’s what a cover point spreads for now until eternity. Go with defense it always be to good offense. Chet Coppock: So you are saying, defense for both team under the radar would produce value ultimately points grabs wins, probably you make money. Wayne: And underdogs, that’s the other part of my equation, you got to bet underdogs. People bet favorites and what they don’t understand is people are manipulated by the media. Whoever is glamorous which usually happens to be offense and whoever is winning the most winds up on the cover of USA Today and the cover of the New York Time sport section and the cover of Sports Illustrated. And then all of them are featured in pieces on the news media and it's basically just a one big giant media gratification thing. Those players get big heads and they will practice as much or as hard. They start to think that they can't lose and that they are the greatest and God gifted them better than everybody else. But you know what, in the end of the field, the difference mentality is this much. Yes, you maybe gifted by God right here but all of those other little guys who are quite as good don’t get any of the press. They are right here. It's that close. And if you gave them emotional or psychological edge on any given day they live prank over the great athletes. Chet Coppock: I tell you why you are right. The late great George who basically founded the Nation Football League put him aside about 1975 and said, “Chester, I want you to learn a lesson.” The differences between team one and the bottom team on our league is as thin as a piece of paper. Wayne: I’ve seen with the best players and so, what is the thing that makes the difference? It's when one team or one guy, one star of that team is on the cover of every newspaper and on to Wheaties box and interviewed on Entertainment Tonight as well as sport shows and ESPN Sports Center. And you know what, all the players who plays that week they put an X on his chest. They want him. They want it desperately. They want him badly. They are sick and tired of their own wives, girlfriend and fans thing. How come you are not good as that guy and that’s what gives them the edge. And teams that are under the radar are the teams you got bet on. Those are always underdogs, they’re always maligned in the press and you always get to tada-tada, here is the drummer all points spread value. That’s how you win in this game. Point spread value, you take the teams that are under valued, you get more points, they should be getting four. You're getting six and you win the game outright all the time. But when you don’t win outright those extra two or three points because the public perception is over valued we’ll make all the difference in the world. Chet Coppock: Alright, you’ve been doing this all your life. When did you instinctively or pragmatically begin to realize forget about offense? This game is ultimately about defensive football teams especially given the fact that the National Football Leagues schedule is not a sprint, it's a marathon. Wayne: When did I begin to realize? When I bang my head against the wall, lost enough money betting on prolific offenses and I lost and I lost just like everybody else. When you listen to talk radio or you go to internet chat rooms, everybody is talking about great offensive juggernauts and everybody is betting on them and you tend to read that and then you read the press and you go, “Wow! This guy is going to win. He is unbeatable. I can't beat against them” and you bet on them. And you lose again and again in that situation. Most people never learn from their mistakes. I'm a Columbia University graduate. I'm not a big of the highest idyllic education in the world. I think it's more important to be street smart the book’s mark, but there is one great thing I learned at Columbia University, history repeats itself again and again. And if you don’t understand that, you are fated to lose to be defeated by history. And again and again favorites you can win betting on the long run and high profile offensive juggernauts lose to quite under the radar great defense.
