St. Patty’s Party Ideas

Audra Lowe and Marley Majcher discuss some great ideas for St. Patrick's Day parties.

Audra Lowe: St. Patrick's Day holiday just for the Irish, then everybody is considered Irish on March 17th. We just need an excuse, right? Good excuse to throw a party, and a perfect way to get friends and family together. And here with some creative touches to help make your party a huge hit is the party goddess herself, Marley Majcher. Good to have you back. Marley Majcher: Thank you for having me. Audra Lowe: Every time you hear it's a party, a lot of stuff is going on? Marley Majcher: I try to come up with some good stuff for you Audra. Audra Lowe: That's good. Like somebody said, everybody is Irish on this particular day. We have an excuse, right? Marley Majcher: Exactly! Audra Lowe: Okay. Marley Majcher: And then, it's so much. We have so many great ideas. Audra Lowe: Yeah, and those who have to start off, you got to have the Leprechaun jams; you got to have some music. Marley Majcher: You got to have Leprechaun music. And here is the thing is that, music is something people often forget when they're entertaining. But if you go to iTunes and you can search certain keywords; you can search like bagpipes or Dropkick Murphys. There is some -Irish music, there is so many fun ways to do it. You come up with some really fun music that you're really only going to want to listen to on the St. Patrick's Day. There are some cool Irish bands that maybe you want to listen to otherwise. Audra Lowe: How do you know about that band? No, that's pretty good. Marley Majcher: Well, I know that I've got some good help here with you crew. So they're giving me a lot of ideas. Audra Lowe: Some suggestions. Marley Majcher: Some suggestions. Audra Lowe: Now as we can see, it's all about the green. Marley Majcher: Yes, absolutely! Audra Lowe: So we're not about giving away money at the party itself. Marley Majcher: No. Yeah. Even though it's all about the green, you can do great stuff with healthy food. Audra Lowe: Okay. Marley Majcher: So what we did was we even gave you a list here of all the different healthy foods that are green. Then, you can use celery, and you can use green peppers. You can even make them into four leaf clovers if you want, use them to garnish your plates, use them for some kind of drinking bar that you're going to do, whatever. There are so many things you can do with green foods. Audra Lowe: So you mention this list here, you got it in a frame. Is that -- that's kind of like letting the guests know what's on the menu, right? Marley Majcher: Exactly! And just so you know that there is more than just celery. There is a ton of other fun things and including edamame that you can do as the first course. So it's kind of fun. Audra Lowe: The Luck of the Irish. Marley Majcher: The Luck of the Irish. Audra Lowe: Speaking of things we can do too, tell me what you have got on the table here. Marley Majcher: Okay. So we just have some fun décor pieces that are different than flowers. We have put some branches here that are just some green buds, which is kind of fun. We've got a little vase there full of moss and some chocolate gold coins. Audra Lowe: That's true. Marley Majcher: So that your guests can eat that, which is really a kind of fun idea, because after a couple of cocktails, they might want some chocolate. Audra Lowe: Right. Marley Majcher: Then down here, we've got our pot of gold which is basically kettle corn. So you can just get it in different flavors, and then your guests can munch and it can be a great snack. But it's just something kind of fun and different. Audra Lowe: You have a little extra flavor you can put on the drinks. Marley Majcher: I have little extra flavor here and I love candy and stuff in drinks and this is a fun one. This is just a skewer that you can obviously skew olives or whatever you want, but what I did was I put some little kiwi melons on them. Audra Lowe: That's nice. Marley Majcher: They are delicious. I ate most of them. So that's why I have got only three for this. Audra Lowe: Eating your props. Marley Majcher: Yeah. Audra Lowe: And then obviously the candy, anything green that goes, right. Marley Majcher: Anything green and you can put it into a giant martini glass. You can layer it. You can put it into a cylindrical vase. There are so many different options. So it's just fun, but which is really take it to nth degree and don't forget that great music. Audra Lowe: Exactly! I was just going to say, don't forget the music and set the whole tone. Marley Majcher: Don't forget the music. It's so fun. Audra Lowe: Let me know where to be. I'll be over there. Come, hang out, I will be the pregnant lady at the front, at the door.
