Street Style with Designer John Bartlett
Rhiannon Ally: This next Harvard grad was the genius behind the designs for Liz
Claiborne men's fashion, good friend of Robert’s too. John Bartlett
also has his own fashion line and flag should store in the West
Village in New York City. That’s were Lauren met up with him to
check out the Street Style.
Lauren Ezersky: Today, I’m with designer John Bartlett. We’re on Seventh Avenue
right in front of his store to check out the good, the bad and the
ugly street style.
Okay, what makes the good look for you?
John Bartlett: Well there such a different great looks. I mean I love somebody
who is really like just thrown together, very Bohemian. I love
somebody who is super well tailored and a lot of this it’s just their
own. If somebody has personal styles coming through, that’s what
makes a good look for me.
Lauren Ezersky: Well, I'm looking at this guy right here. Look at him. Come here.
He’s cute too. What’s your name?
Jonathan: I’m Jonathan.
Lauren Ezersky: Oh, Jonathan.
Jonathan: Yes.
Lauren Ezersky: Where you from?
Jonathan: France.
Lauren Ezersky: Okay, well you know –
John Bartlett: I'm John.
Jonathan: How are you?
Lauren Ezersky: I love it now. French today have a great trend to style. Are they
not?
John Bartlett: Yeah, yeah. And I love what he's wearing, the white shirt black
tight with gym shoes. There are like super chic and the gold bag,
like it’s great.
Lauren Ezersky: Now I'm liking, this is really casual. What do you think?
John Bartlett: At the end, you had great style. I love your plaid shirt, your cut-
offs.
Male: These are my grandfather’s actually.
John Bartlett: Oh, there you go.
Male: Yeah, yeah, it was belong to my grandfather. He just died so I took
all his clothes.
Lauren Ezersky: There, it looks great. You were the same size.
Male: Yeah, it’s silver lining on my grandfather’s death so, I get to look
good all the time now.
Lauren Ezersky: How do you guys choose what you’re going to wear in the
morning?
Male: Sometimes it’s a matter like, have I done the laundry. But these
socks I'm wearing right now, they were definitely the last socks in
the door, you know. But, I don’t know, I'm a comfort person. I like
soft fabrics.
Lauren Ezersky: So here’s more color, we love that. What makes a good look for
you? How do you decide what you’re going to put on the morning?
Female: I dress according to how I feel. So if it’s one of these moments
right over like being bothered, I'm going for comfort all the way
and other days I feel like kind of geeing it up a little up. I add little
color, a little jewelry, some heels.
Lauren Ezersky: Wait, you’re cute but he’s cuter. Who is this?
Male: This is Tank.
John Bartlett: Hi, Tank.
Lauren Ezersky: You're looking good today. What did you – how did you decide to
put this outfit on today?
Male: It’s actually I'm embarrassed to say, this were I wore out last night.
So it was easy, it was lying next to the bed so I put it on,
convenient.
Lauren Ezersky: Alright, are you going to place fabulous?
Female: She just graduated today.
Robert Bartlett: Congratulations.
Female: Thank you.
Male: My wife dressed me today and my wife – I have no idea what I'm
doing. She picked everything out.
Lauren Ezersky: You see, that’s what I was just saying John. Women dress men but
you look good, right?
Male: I let it happen, just let it out happen, yeah.
Lauren Ezersky: You’re the wife?
Female: Yes, I am his wife.
Lauren Ezersky: Because left to his own devices, it would not be pretty.
Male: It’s not good.
Female: Oh my God, we’re talking. It would have been pink socks, one side
shoes black, one side is brown and then he’s like, this is matching
him like, “Oh my God, could you actually think that matches?
No.”
Lauren Ezersky: Which is awesome, thank you John Bartlett, we had an amazing
day.
John Bartlett: Thanks Lauren.
Lauren Ezersky: Thanks for joining us. I’m Lauren Ezersky for Better.
