Synth-Pop Band The Mission District Interview
Description

This synth-pop band's catchy and moody tracks stemmed from 80's influences as well as modern punk. WatchMojo gets some fast facts about the band from Rob and Dave.
Transcript
Rebecca Brayton: Their 80s influence has shined through but they’ll be the first to tell you about their favorite modern bands as well. Hi! I’m Rebecca Brayton and welcome to watchmojo.com and today, we’re challenging David and Rob from the Mission District to a Lightning Round.
Strangest request from a fan.
David Rancourt: To sign their shoes.
Rob Rousseau: What I don’t get is when people buy our shirts and then they get us to sign the shirts and it’s just like, “I’m going to wear that? There’s going to be marker all over.”
But I think the strangest thing that someone has asked us is that we had some hens in UK that bring us ducks, not live ducks but like rubber, plastic ducks.
David Rancourt: They throw them at us.
Rob Rousseau: They throw them at us.
Rebecca Brayton: Who in the world would you least like to wake up next to?
Rob Rousseau: I don’t know. The first thing name that went into my head is Margaret Dutcher. Okay, I’m going to with that.
Rebecca Brayton: Let’s say you’re drunk and you’re walking around the street and you’re singing, what are you singing?
David Rancourt: Right now, I’ll be probably singing Don’t Trust Me by 3OH!3.
Rob Rousseau: David and I are obsessed with that song. It’s kind of a guilty pleasure. It’s stuck in my head right now. We were just listening to it about five minutes before this interview.
Rebecca Brayton: Who in the band is worst to sit next to on a plane?
Rob Rousseau: I would say Mike because he smells really bad.
David Rancourt: Yeah, Mike’s a bit smelly.
Rob Rousseau: Which is you know it’s fair, he’s a drummer and he’s so sweaty all the time because he’s drumming but you know, still which is just still unpleasant.
Rebecca Brayton: The first concert you ever attended.
David Rancourt: I think it was like either Celine Dion or like New Kids on the Block or something like that when I was like four.
Rob Rousseau: I think it was Sloan actually.
Rebecca Brayton: So, you’re the cool one.
Rob Rousseau: Yeah, thinking about that, that was the coolest thing I could say.
Rebecca Brayton: So, if you could have anyone guest on like a tour with you guys, who would it be?
Rob Rousseau: Well, I would say maybe Jimmy Eat World, they just opened for Paramore in their tour and I just thought it would be so cool to be them to have this like sort of legendary band supporting me.
David Rancourt: Let me go with Blink. I’ve always wanted to play with them.
Rebecca Brayton: At least they got back together.
Stupidest thing you’ve ever done on stage.
David Rancourt: That’s an easy answer for me. When we’re in Scotland, I said “We’re really enjoying touring England” but we weren’t in England, we’re in Scotland and that didn’t go very well.
Rob Rousseau: We were booed pretty vigorously. It was really awkward.
As far as me personally, I can't think of any specific thing.
David Rancourt: I can think of something.
Rob Rousseau: Really?
David Rancourt: When we were playing—
Rob Rousseau: You’re so fast on that, oh my God.
David Rancourt: We were playing live on MuchMusic and he sang horribly, out of key.
Rob Rousseau: Oh yeah, that’s pretty bad.
David Rancourt: Yeah.
Rob Rousseau: See, that’s what I learned, playing on TV, not the easiest thing to do.
Rebecca Brayton: All right, well let’s leave it at that. Thank you very much guys.
David Rancourt: Thanks for having us.
Rob Rousseau: Thank you.
