Teaching Children About Agriculture with Ag Venture

Join California's primary schoolers on an ag-venture day in which they are taught about farming and agriculture.

Jasmine: My name is Jasmine Krakover, I'm 17 and a half years old. I go to East Union High School and serve as the East Union Chapter President. Today what we're doing is Ag Venture. This is the Manteca Unified School district farm. There are about 4000 kids, 3rd graders and they are doing numerous activities. There's presentations, different fruits and vegetables, there's animals they can look at and there's a corn maze. I feel it’s really important to get them out there as young as possible. So the kids really understand what's going on. Girl: We're learning about all the animals. Boy: They eat hay and eat apples. Girl2: Horses can jump like 6 feet. Girl3: When they cut off the sheep, it’s usually because they're pregnant. Jasmine: The kids love coming here. They love the corn maze, they love the animals, without that, we wouldn’t have the cloths that we buy and wear, we won't have the food that we eat. It’s what keeps communities and cities in the world going. I'm really passionate about the effort, just being here watching the kids learn about the farm and what we do and how you can really get involved in that, it really excites me.
