IGN IGN Movie Review. Male Speaker: We are the shadows and they the smoke in your eyes. Female Speaker:We've been waiting a long time for this one, writer, director, star Sylvester Stallone throw back to the glory days of 80's action films the Expendable takes some of the most recognizable He-man of that era and combines them with their modern day counterparts. Jason Statham, Jet li, Dolph Lundgren and Randy Coutoure are just some of the gun todding, bone smashing, bunker busting talent who joins life for this blood soaked adventure. The plots, who needs a plot for this kind of movie, its a fight to stay, Stallone plays the leader of the ruthless mercenaries of the title and team who takes on the most dangerous machines if the price is right which of course means a return to the healthy young days of bad quips and mindless violence complete with cartoony action, Stallone and Statham make a fine central pairing trading gags and insults like two buddies and lending a real sense of history to the team. The other expendables kill with the best of them and drop one liners with mischievous twinkles in their eyes even if they're mostly relegated to supporting character status. There are a couple of twists along the way involving the identity of the enemy, the loyalties of the team members themselves and more, but if you have ever watched 80's action classic, you'll see them coming on my laugh. As for the much hyped inclusion of the governator and Bruce Willis the roles are little more than cameos. And having waited more than 20 years to see these three action legends tear up the screen together the result is something of an anti-climax. Even if it does it end with a great gag at the expense of Arnold. Unfortunately that's the thrust of the over all film. Stallone seems to have missed as many opportunities as he has nailed, still maybe he is saving some ammunition for the sequel, lets hope that follow that happens so that the expendables can once again set the 0:00:40 back 20 years. The Expendables. IGN gives the Expendables three-and-a-half stars. IGN.

After watching the cartoons as a kid it feels great to go nostalgic once in a while (which let's face it is one of the fundamental attractions of movies, to dream and take you back to that idyllic innocent and fun time as a kid where absolutely anything is possible), to see if it is the same as you remembered them. This is a retelling of the original series, with it's own twist added for a modern audience. The autobots's planet has been destroyed, and Artemus Prime(voiced by Laurence Fishburne, Morpheus in the Matrix) along with a ......

Movie Reviews Reviews Amelie

I wanted to watch this movie after seeing a review of it on TV, (I was fascinated by Amelie's eyes in the poster promoting the film). I have always liked the nostalgic, deep intelligent themes surrounding french films, and this was no different. We are introduced to the young introvert Amelie as a child whose father blames her for the passing of her mother, as a result she keeps herself to herself, and day dreams from her distance father, and absent mother....

"The Proposal" Movie Review

Yes, it's old, old material but as always, it ain't the joke, it's the way it's delivered. "The Proposal" is solid entertainment, well-romanced by reasonable but not sizzling chemistry between Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds. I can't, however, really give it a "good" rating because it's fairly devoid of any romance-comedy imagination and a bit loaded with shaky contrivances....
