The Last Airbender' Movie Review
Grace Randolph: Will Shyamalan do what the fire nation could not? Destroy the
Avatar. You’re watching beyond the trailers review of the 'The
Last Airbender'.

In 1999, brushed young film maker burst under the scene with the
‘Six Sense’ and Night Shyamalan insisted on doing things his way
and it he knew what he was doing, so Hollywood gave him space
to work. Slowly but surely Shyamalan built a reputation for eerie
movies with his trademark twist endings. However, who could
have guest that Shyamalan own career had a twist coming up as
well. Two films ‘Lady in the Water” and “The Happening’ were
major underperformers for Shyamalan and he found himself a need
of redemption.
What better story to bring about redemption than the mystical hit
animated franchise, Avatar the Last Airbender Shyamalan first
heard of the show when daughter said she wanted to dress up as
waterbender Katara for Halloween. He sat down to a few episodes
and was hooked just like millions of fans the world over. So he
pitches his idea on how to adapt the show for the silver screen to
Paramount which is under the same Viacom banner as
Nickelodeon, the network that created Avatar the Last Airbender.
Paramount like the pitch and gave Shyamalan a budget of 1five0
million plus they are backing him up with an advertising budget of
1three0 million. But those kind of numbers The Last Airbender is
going to have to deliver big but with fans worried about the
whitewashing of the cast and the much darker tones shown in the
trailers, will they support the movie and will new audiences be
interested in the martial arts picture that’s been converted to 3D
impost and is rated PG, lets go find out.
Grace Randolph: Ever heard of BTT Viewer.
Ezra Cubero: Yes, we are, my name is Ezra.
Grace Randolph: And you have a YouTube or movie review show?
Ezra Cubero: Yes, I do, Ezrashugereviews.
Grace Randolph: Excellent and you have seen Avatar the Last Airbender.
Ezra Cubero: Yes, I have.
Grace Randolph: How was it?
Ezra Cubero: I hated it.
Female: To me, it was a waste of the time.
Male: I did not like it. I can not understand it. It was boring. Actually, it
dozed off on me for a short while.
Male: To be honest at the beginning I did not really like how it begun but
as the movie progressed I really got into it.
Male: I thought it was bad.
Male: It is horrible.
Grace Randolph: Are you a fan to the series.
Male: Yes.
Male: It didn’t stay too loyal to the actual show which it kind of
disappointed me.
Male: It did not capture any of the emotion that the cartoon could simply
capture in a half an hour within its two hour length.
Grace Randolph: Some viewers are sayings, how this must be with the series is like,
is that true?
Male: No, less comedy and it gone too serious really.
Male: They are sadly mistaken. They should go by the DVDs of the
cartoon and forget this movie even existed in existence.
Female: Script writing was horrible, absolutely horrible, like honestly, I do
not know. A high school kid could have done better than that.
Grace Randolph: Really.
Ezra Cubero: That was awful but just a shame because I love him in Slumdog
Millionaire.
Grace Randolph: Oh no.
Male: Steven Seagal has more emotion than in this movie. I mean this is
stressed. The whole story is just —we’re going to say that and tell
stuff on big screen in 3D.
Male: We watch it 3D it was 17.five0. If you’re going to watch it, there’s
no point paying the extra for the 3D if you really want to come
watching it.
Ezra Cubero: It did not need to be in 3D and I keep on taking my glasses on and
off and it looked exactly the same.
Male: 40 dollars. 40 dollars down the drain.
Male: Just let it go men, just let it go. Let the emotions flow like the
water now, remember.
Grace Randolph: And there was a lot of controversy over the casting.
Male: Yes.
Grace Randolph: You know people thought, they cast actors who didn’t represent
the characters and you might watch it. How do you guys feels?
Male: obvious reason, I could care less but some of the characters like the
Uncle, I did not fit the symmetry.
Male: It actually didn’t match with the characters like how they are
actually describes.
Male: It is not even their appearance like even the way they act. It was
like you kind of feel a little betrayed because like while watching
the movie, you kind of go attach to those characters and you see
them completely altered in this movie.
Male: And Sako was supposed to be funny but he was not funny at all
and Aang is supposed like care free and childish and happy but it
was not really shown.
Male: Even the kid that was playing on. He’s supposed to be like a
trained fighter from Shaolin or something like that.
Male: Yes.
Male: I am sorry I am a martial artist, this background was garbage. The
martial arts that I seen in there was terrible, they rely more on
special effects and that is the whole part and so why people like the
cartoon. They like realistic movements.
Grace Randolph: Yes. Is it redeemable in any way?
Ezra Cubero: Well the visuals are decent but that is about it.
Grace Randolph: I must say in his special effects were pretty nice.
Male: I really like how he incorporate his CGI effects into the
waterbending at least the airbending seemed kind of lame.
Grace Randolph: whose fault do you think it was?
Grace Randolph: Honestly, probably the director.
Male: The director.
Male: Yes, the director.
Grace Randolph: Yes. Well this is supposed to be a trilogy.
Male: That ended right there.
Grace Randolph: Pretend you are talking to somebody who is online for this movie.
Ezra Cubero: Do not see Last Airbender it is awful in 3D. It will just like ruin
two hours of your time and it’s just a terrible movie.
Male: Were fans so we’re sad to see it but if you just want to have a good
movie experience maybe you should try watching something else.
Male: If you want to good laugh then come watch it because it is just
really that bad.
Grace Randolph: Wow!
Male: No, avoid it.
Male: If I am in YouTube, no.
Grace Randolph: What do you give the movie on a 1-10?
Ezra Cubero: A 0.5.
Grace Randolph: I would give it a 2.
Male: I will give it 1.
Male: I think I would give it 7.
Male: Five to six.
Male: I probably give Six to Six ½.
Male: Three or four.
Male: Five or four.
Male: I will give it a 0.2.
Grace Randolph: So audience has give the Last Airbender a three meaning M. Night
Shyamalan is breaking a lot of hearts. Like this innocent BTT
Viewer, we met our way on his way to see the movie.
Hi! So what is your name?
Emanuel: Emanuel.
Grace Randolph: So you’re beyond the trailer here right?
Emanuel: Yes.
Grace Randolph: Ah, cool, so what movie you are going to see today?
Emanuel: Ah, Avatar, the Last Airbender.
Grace Randolph: So, what are your expectations going in?
Emanuel: I am hoping that M. Night Shyamalan has a really good work with
on the Avatar series and as like really good.
Grace Randolph: Have you read any of the reviews?
Emanuel: No, not yet.
Grace Randolph: Ah, ok, alright.
