Tim McGraw UNCUT No matter what you want to do in life, the biggest part of doing that and being successful in it is making the decision that you're going to do it. My philosophy about flying is a serenity of flying. There is a freedom to go of anywhere you want. There is a freedom to just think that I might go to Mexico and never come back. My life on the road is a lot of times a fly. I don’t leave home to two or three in the afternoon but, most of the time I like to spend a couple of days on the road. Luckily, we have some success. You kind of do it the way you want to do it. As an artist, ultimately I want to prepare as well as I can prepare but I do make decisions quickly and go forward with it. It's hard to change direction if you're not moving. The toughest thing about touring in general is the sadness. I mean that’s the hardest thing to do when you're put in a tour together. Putting together a list of 25 or so songs, they're going to flow great together and then you have to think about guitar changes. We’re a great bunch of musicians. I don’t think you'll find a better band out there as a unit of guys together. We've been friends for a long time and everybody knows each other’s weaknesses. Everybody knows where somebody is really good or they might be up to fall down including me. They know where I'm weak and the things that I need help of. I think your body is so prepared and used to this ritual that it goes into sort of a little bit of like self-preservation mode, preparing of what’s to come. The great thing about Faith and is we’re different. We have different styles. And there has been times there are just closed that she hadn’t like to sing. “Don’t worry that on the stage, all right? And I said “yeah, I think it's cool.” We went up there and did it. I think she likes the goatee. She thinks I look too much like my dad without it. Everybody is a product of their influences. I do things that are true to me. At the end of the day, I'm a country singer all over my mouth and I sound country when I sing. That’s great. From Elvis to The Eagles to Merle Hagard, I'm a product of that influence. When I put the hat on, it's kind of odd to say when I'm putting my cowboy hat on, it's when I get to my rock star face but it's true. Up until that point where you get your hat on and it's time to start folders and sort of concentrate and get into the zone. It's all pretty routine. That’s a routine itself, but that sort of create a character. When I'm backstage usually, I'm pretty focused. I get like adrenaline nervous. There have been runs to where I thought I've got to improve whether anybody else is noticing or not. It's kind of like before a football game and before a baseball game, before you go up to bat, those kinds of jitters that you got as a kid ball. That’s what you live for and that’s why you do it. I'm just not ready to lie down yet and let somebody beat me. [Music Playing]
