Top 5 Google searches Welcome to cnet Top 5 where each time we meet with countdown another hot cnet list. I’m Tom Merritt. Google trends is a fascinating service giving you an insight into what folks are searching for on a web sort of like a mind reading exercise and I want to know what’s on the mind of the United States? So, we went to www.google.com/insights/search to see what searches were on the rise over the past 90 days let’s counting them down. At number five, IRS well that make sense. April 15 is tax day in the US and people want to find out where they can file their forms? How they can get extensions and also sit and openly weep at the tax calculator or was that just me? Coming at number four, Rihanna, wow how to handle this one? Well, it’s not a happy story and we’re not done talking about it because at number three is Chris Brown. Now who knows, maybe some good will come out of this and racing awareness about domestic violence? Even so, we thought two things were more important over the past 90 days here in the United States. At number two, that important thing is American Idol. Oh men, is there any hope for my country? Any hope for its culture. Any hope for that rough net guy that works on the oil rigs when you got low rounds in there with a three kids in a killer voice? I’ve said too much. Okay, before we get to number. I have to take a break for I fear what would be the top rising Google search. So let me do my part to spread geek culture. Inauguration was top of the mind over the past three months and certainly sets some records for web traffic but this time its going fade away.
