Hello, climbers. Welcome to bouldering 101. My name is Macbeth and I'll be your host. Bouldering is a fun lifestyle sport that I've enjoyed for the past 20 years. It has taken me into amazing places and I still enjoy this much as I did the day I first started. This DVD is for all levels. New climbers will learn the basics while experience boulderers will learn unusual tips for better climbing and scientists shared my knowledge of bouldering with you. So, let's get started. Rock climbing has its own language. Let's start with basic vocab then work our way into more technical terms and concepts. So, what is bouldering? Bouldering is primarily climbing without a rope relatively close to the ground using a crash pad for protection. Sport climbing is primarily climbing with a rope using pre-placed permanent bolts which are drilled into the rock for protection. Traditional climbing also known as “Trad” climbing is primarily climbing with a rope using removable non-permanent devices for protection. A boulder problem or route is recognized as a designed path up the rock which is usually signed a name and difficulty rating. Sending is the ultimate goal in bouldering. It is the act of climbing a boulder problem from the start to the finish without falling. Beta, directions, or information on where to go, or how to do specific moves on a boulder problem. On every boulder problem, there is a specific hard section, this is the crux.

Why We Learn Vocabulary

We learn vocabulary for two basic and important reasons: 1) We would like to be understood, and 2) we would also like to understand what others are trying to communicate to us.
