A propane powered grass trimmer is greener than a regular gas trimmer. Watch the show and learn why.

Eric Rochow: Hey everyone! This is a new thing I am going to try. This is a combined version of Gardenfork and Real World Green.
I don't know people that watch Gardenfork, realize that I also put out a video every week called RealWorldGreen which is about practical green tips. It's kind of like Gardenfork green stuff. We are not going to talk about doing yoga or using hemp or whatever. We are going to talk about hands on stuff that helps you save money and be green at the same time.
I've got an email from a company called Lehr and they make grass trimmers and things like that. And they said, would you like to check out our propane powered weed whacker? And I was like okay, send me one. So sure enough they did, here is the beast right here. I mean it's not really a beast, it's really quite nice. So I want to talk about it.
Grass Trimmers are usually two cycle engines, and they make a lot of noise and they are really a polluty -- what's the right word? They are highly pollutable?
Female Speaker: Pollutants.
Eric Rochow: They put a lot of pollutants into the air, because two cycle engines burn a mixture of gas and oil. It goes through the engine and it spits out into the air. Four cycle engines which is what this runs on are much cleaner. Now I know they are not perfect because you are going to say, oh you should use an electric one.
I don't think a lot of America is going to use an Electric Grass Trimmer. Okay? That's just what I think. What my point then what's really cool about this thing is, this is a Propane Powered Grass Trimmer which is very cool.
So this is a Propane Cylinder that you can buy at the hardware store. You plug it into the bottom of this thing. You don't have to mix oil and gas, and I think a lot of the problems people get with their two cycle engines is they don't mix the oil right into the gas anyway.
At the end of the summer, you don't have to clean this thing out. I mean like my chainsaw, it will gunk up if you don't run the thing in the middle of winter. I always run it a couple of times. This, it's propane, you just disconnect the propane thing here, boom! And it's done. So this is what I call a Practical Green Tip. If you are going to use a grass trimmer, consider using a propane trimmer.
Female Speaker: Is not that loud?
Eric Rochow: It's not loud. So Lehr has sent a little card with it that gives some of the benefits of propane over two cycle engines. It reduces our dependency on foreign oil because over 85% of propane is produced domestically. So that's a good thing.
The trimmer exceeds 2011 EPA Emission Standards, zero ozone depleting hydrocarbons, I can't even talk and zero evaporative emissions. But, I mean just it's priceless to say I think if you are going to use a Grass Trimmer, I think a Propane one is better than a two cycle one.
Alright. So there you go. Gardenfork viewers, if you want to check out Real World Green, you can watch it on our site, you can also watch it on iTunes and YouTube as the usual places. Come to our site Green-House.tv to learn more about it, and the Gardenfork guys, come to the site. We are going to give away the Grass Trimmer. Alright?
Female Speaker: We are?
Eric Rochow: Yeah.
Female Speaker: We don't need it?
Eric Rochow: Well you could really use it. But, I think that's one of the benefits of watching the show is that they send the stuff and I give it away. So we are going to giveaway the Grass Trimmer.
Female Speaker: Is there going to be a contest?
Eric Rochow: Well, it's just going to be a give away. So come to the site and you will see in the upper left-hand corner, a little thing, a link to click for the Lehr Propane Trimmer give away. Alright. So make it a great day, Green-House.tv is our site. See you later.
Female Speaker: Keep cool.
