Visit Edgefield in South Carolina Jim Watt: South Carolina South pantry is a stark contrast to the coastal low country. Of course the Smokey Mountains and the large fresh water lakes that lies across the interior. Here, the bright colors of fall decorate the hill. Political thing also lies in land. The community is the Edgefield. Most famous for the birds and burial place of political icon Strom Thurmond, Edgefield has another claim to fame. Bob McKie: Well, I guess our best is known for Thurmond’s Republican governance. And right now we’ve got three federal judges and one state judge that hails from here all things bound possibly. The native Edgefield man is a type of person who I think is very positive and I think they are very energetic. And I think they don’t back-off too much. I think that’s has a lot to do with of ages, tough individual who leads very good people. And they like differently kind of hill to have. Jim Watt: In addition to having some mysterious atmosphere that creates politicians, Edgefield is the quintessential upcountry in South Carolina community. Beautiful old of 18th and the 19th century homes graze its tree lined streets. In an Episcopal Church which has been serving the community of Edgefield since 1836. There is a historical marker. It’s John Thurmond’s birth place and seen a marker at his grave side will be an equally the historic place. On the edge of town, headquarters for the national Wild Turkey Federation, a private nonprofit grass roots organization dedicated to the preservation and conversation of wild turkeys. Here too, the wild turkey amusements open to the public at no charge. Among there many fiats, education is particularly emphasized providing training to teachers with education packages to over two million street children. The Wild Turkey Federation has donated over $1 million for the college scholarships. Every year the federation provides turkeys to the less fortunate feeding over four thousand families last year.
