Visit Newfoundland Countryside Taking the Trans-Canada Highway across Newfoundland yield so many scenic views, unique geological formations have earned the province the nickname, The Rock. A Newfoundlander, former premier Joey Smallwood is commemorated in this park and rest stop that offers refreshment. On the Northeast Coast, an aviation museum can be found in Gander which also has an airport and the memorial to Newfoundlanders who lost their lives in World War II. Stephenville on the West coast is a town that grew up as an air force base. It flourishes as farming and fishing community with the seafaring flavor that’s enhanced with recreational highlight such as terrific golf courses. Stephenville is still very much an air force town with a well service airport.
