Walk Naturally After Hip Replacement Surgery - Francine's Story Here’s the real kicker, you’ll walk fairly quickly, in other words I was walking around my house the first day I was home. I was walking out the drive way with a cane you know within a day or two but I limped for the better part of a year after the surgery. Because they cut or move this muscles especially the glutious meatus. I know more about the glutious meatus than anybody because it’s a muscle with either has to be cut or moved depending on what kind of procedure you have and there are lots of different ones but no matter what you do. It takes a long time to actually rebuild that muscle so that you have the same amount of strength in both legs. And until then you’re going to limp.
