Walnut Sugar Cookies

Description

Kourabiedes, or walnut sugar cookies, are a signature Greek treat.

Transcript
Walnut Sugar Cookies In Greece, the signature holiday cookie is the Kourabiedes, a football shaped walnut sugar cookie that is spiked with brandy and a hint of orange flower water. This year mark your celebration with a touch of a Mediterranean. First, find a baking sheet with parchment paper. Now once you’ve made the dough from the recipe provided, use a tablespoon to scoop out one inch pieces and roll them into a bowl between the palms of your hands. Pinch the ends of the ball to make a football shape. Repeat the process with the remaining dough. Place the cookies on a prepared baking sheet. And bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit until the cookies set and start to brown about 18 minutes. Lightly brush the cookies with orange flower water. Orange flower water contains essential oils of orange blossoms. It has a hint of citrus scent to a wide range of recipes, savory and sweet. Put three quarters of a cup of confectioners’ sugar in a plastic bag. Place a few of the warm cookies in the bag and very gently toss the cookies to coat with sugar. Remove from the bag and cool the cookies on a rack. With this delicate Greek confection, you’ll bring the world to your table like Christmas time.
