Hey, welcome to watch mojo.com, I'm your host Christy and today will be looking at what exactly is a Grand Slam. A Grand Slam title is the tennis championship won at one of the four tournaments that comprise the tennis Grand Slam. These tournaments often referred to collectively as Grand Slam tournaments are the Australian Open, the French Open, Wimbledon and the U.S. Open. Grand Slam tournaments are the only events on the professional tours that include a mix doubles competition, along side the mens doubles, womens doubles and single events. Main drop play at each grand slam tournament last for two weeks with a 128 players participating in the first round of the singles competition. A single player or double teams that win all four grand slams titles in the same year is said to achieved the Grand Slam or a calendar year grand slam. If the player or team wins all four consecutively, but not in the same calendar year, it is called a non calendar year Grand Slam. If a player wins all four points of his order career even if not consecutively it is called the carrier Grand Slam.
