What is the Fibonacci Project

Veronica: Driven by the belief that art can build bridges between cultures, the Fibonacci project is a combination of circus, theater, music and more. With collaborators from all over the world. Hi, I’m Veronica with watchmojo.com and today, we’re gonna sit down with some of the artists. So to begin with, what is the Fibonacci project? Samuel: Cultural encounter between artists from different cultures that are collaborating together to create a show. And that show is inspired by the Fibonacci suit, which is a mathematical suit from which derive the golden number. A value of harmony, a proportion of harmony that you find in nature and art and architecture, and basically it’s about different cultures trying to find some harmony expressing true artistic mediums. Whether it’s dance or music, circus, definitely is what it’s get us together here. And video, there is a VJ on stage as well. All artists are kind of part of the creative process. Veronica: And what are the challenges of collaborating with different groups and different art forms? Andrea: We have different languages. We can start from that, so it’s a big challenge to understand each other. But it’s also the opportunity to share what he have as a background. Not just in circus or in arts but also in our cultures. Samuel: It’s really about sharing actually. And sharing and exchanging kind of your perspective on the world. Guillaume: No one is here to impose something to another one. We’re just arriving with our luggage, our background, and we have a common space and we try to share the best we can. Samuel: The Fibonacci project, it’s a show that tells the story of the project itself. So kind of, is an open window on the creative process. I believed that creativity is one of the strongest human power. Everybody can create whether you’re rich or poor, wherever you’re from. That’s how we evolve as human, and that’s how humanity evolves is by putting that creativity in action. And sharing that creative process with the audience, I think that’s how we hope that can be very inspiring. Veronica: So you all think art is the best way to build a bridge among the cultures? Samuel: I don’t know. Guillaume: The best way, maybe not, I mean we don’t have any pretentions, but is a way and is a meaningful way for sure. Through art I think it’s way more equal, and everybody has its place. And nobody impose something to the other. Andrea: And in terms of barriers or frontiers, we think that we can cross that frontiers through the art. Samuel: The project is kind of proposing alternative channel for intercultural dialogue. Basically you have a group of travelling performers that travelled and meet different culture. So each time the show is transformed with the local input of the performers and the local culture, and then we meet and we kind of put on stage this encounters. So each time it’s a bit different. Each show even is gonna be a bit different. Veronica: Is this a show for all ages, all cultures, all people? All: Yeah. Definitely. Andrea: For everybody.
